Bengals, Joe Burrow don’t make Cam Newton’s list of destinations

It would appear the proverbial writing on the wall hints at the Cincinnati Bengals going after a new backup quarterback behind Joe Burrow.

Brandon Allen remains a free agent and the team has looked at rookie passers in the upcoming draft class and even unexpected veteran free agents.

But don’t expect former league MVP Cam Newton to be in the discussion.

After all, Newton just released a list of 11 quarterbacks he’d be willing to sit behind on an NFL depth chart in 2023 — and Joe Burrow isn’t one of those names.

Newton, now 33, hasn’t played since 2021, yet continues to remain in the conversation as a possibility for teams both because of his media appearances and the perception he has something to offer teams, but simply hasn’t found the right fit.

Though some Bengals fans might like the sound of it though, Newton himself doesn’t appear to have the team on his list.
