As of this writing, Clemson’s Myles Murphy might be the biggest name associated with the Cincinnati Bengals before the 2023 NFL draft.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bengals will host the star defensive end on a visit before the draft.
Murphy, who had 18.5 sacks, six forced fumbles and 36 tackles for loss over three seasons, is the 23rd overall ranked player at Pro Football Focus:
Murphy is too freaky to pass up. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder is this year’s version of Travon Walker. Murphy could stand to add some pass-rushing moves, but he still racked up 76 pressures over the past two seasons.
This attention might just be due diligence by the Bengals in case guys unexpectedly fall down the board.
But with the way free agency has flowed so far, the Bengals are certainly in a spot to take best player available — and Murphy would likely qualify. Boosting the pass-rush has been one of the goals for this offseason and adding Murphy on a rotational basis would provide it in a big way.
