Cincinnati Bengals rookie pass-rusher Myles Murphy has been flirting with a breakout over the last two weeks or so after putting together some very impressive film.
Bengals coaches sound more than happy to encourage said breakout, too.
Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, for example, admitted that “Monday Night Football” against the Jacksonville Jaguars could be where the first-rounder could get a “few more snaps,” per WLWT’s Charlie Clifford.
Murphy played 22 snaps against the Steelers last week in a showcase that was easily the best game of his young pro career. He’s started to surpass the likes of Cam Sample and Joseph Ossai in the rotation already, something that could only increase as veterans like Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson need more breaks as the season wears on and the games likely become more about long-term development than instant contention.
