Bengals have not shown interest in Joe Flacco, per report

In the wake of Joe Burrow’s season-ending injury, we listed seven quarterback targets for the Cincinnati Bengals to consider.

One of those was Joe Flacco.

An offer for Bengals fans

But according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Bengals haven’t done so much as pick up the phone on the Flacco front:

So far, the Bengals have shown no interest in Flacco.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it has been “crickets” from Cincinnati for Flacco.

This isn’t surprising by any means, as the Bengals don’t figure to be in a rush to grab a veteran who could potentially start. They’ve thrown a ton of resources into developing Jake Browning and have AJ McCarron as a fallback plan.

As for Flacco, he’d make for an interesting backup who can potentially start later in the season once adjusted, provided he’s willing to accept that role. He just had a visit with the Cleveland Browns after Deshaun Watson’s injury, though left without a deal as of this writing.

Maybe the Bengals get active while looking for a third quarterback and Flacco’s name comes up, but they’re in the very early stages of figuring things out right now.

Still, getting a veteran third quarterback to onboard now, combined with pulling off a few surprise wins, could certainly make for an interesting December.
