A.J. Green signed a one-day contract on Saturday in order to officially retire as a member of the Bengals.
Green, who played 11 years in the NFL, enjoyed nine solid seasons in Cincinnati. After being drafted by the Bengals with the fourth pick in the 2011 NFL draft out of Georgia, the star wideout was selected to seven Pro Bowls during an illustrious NFL career.
Green surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in six of his first seven seasons with Cincinnati, so it was only fitting that he returned back to the franchise for his final act.
“A.J. Green has officially retired as a Bengal. WHO DEY!” the team wrote in an adoring message on the team’s social media page.

The imposing 6’ 4” imposing target, who spent his final two seasons of his career with the Cardinals, first announced his retirement on Instagram back in February.
“Thank you to all who have supported, encouraged, and inspired me throughout my career,” Green wrote on Instagram. “Special thank you to the University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals, and Arizona Cardinals for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I’ve stayed true to the game and it owes me nothing. Be blessed.. Love y’all! The next chapter begins…”
In his 11 seasons in the NFL, Green hauled in 727 catches, 10,514 receiving yards and 70 touchdowns.
