The Cincinnati Bengals might have something special with second-round cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt based on the reaction of a team leader like Mike Hilton.
Hilton, a locker room leader and starter, has taken it upon himself to stand in as a mentor for CTB as the rookie gets his career going.
And Hilton’s also already come away impressed with what he sees.
“I’ll make sure he’s ready. That’s part of being a leader and a vet,” Hilton said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Absolutely. They’re here to help us. I want them to be on top of their game to help us win. I’m definitely going to take him under my wing and try to show him the ropes.”
Hilton also added this about CTB already exceeding expectations: “He’s long. He’s a lot taller than I expected. He has some length. That will be good for us. He looks smooth and agile.”
Already dubbed “The Energizer Bunny,” some of what has already caught Hilton off guard in person is why the Bengals made sure to move up and draft CTB. He projects to get snaps on a rotational basis at the boundary corner spot right away.
And with a guy like Hilton leading the way, it’s reasonable for the team and fans to expect a solid showing from CTB right out of the gates.
