Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson explains why he’ll play through broken wrist

Despite his broken wrist, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson will return to the team a little earlier than anticipated.

Hendrickson has elected to play through the injury — and won’t wear a club to protect it, either.

The star defensive end told Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic that multiple doctors have told him the injury can’t get any worse, so his playing will come down to pain management.

He added: “At this point in the season we have spent more time together than we have with our family and we are a family. They would lay it on the line for me and there are guys whose livelihoods are at stake.”

That means Hendrickson will get back on the field for the Bengals against the Patriots just as the defense loses Sam Hubbard for an extended period of time.

Hendrickson’s decision is an interesting one and undoubtedly helps the Bengals. It probably helps that he already played an entire quarter with the injury after breaking it.
