Bengals cornerback has harsh words for Commanders’ QB Jayden Daniels

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt likes to talk. Last week, Taylor-Britt criticized Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

“Speed, that’s about it,” Taylor-Britt said last week via ESPN. “He can run straight — run jet sweeps and just run straight. He can’t do too much else, so that’s about it.”

Worthy had two touchdowns in Kansas City’s season opener, but Taylor-Britt backed up his talk in Week 2. He had a spectacular interception and Worthy caught four passes for just 17 yards. Unfortunately for the third-year cornerback, the Chiefs won the game on a last-second field goal.

Now, the 0-2 Bengals host the Washington Commanders (1-1) in the Week 3 edition of Monday Night Football.

Taylor-Britt has a new target in mind for his Week 3 trash talk: Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

“They don’t make him do a lot,” Taylor-Britt said Thursday. “They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense, (Kliff) Kingsbury, the OC, so they love to move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is very high, but he’s only throwing short routes, some intermediate stuff, and quick throws.”

So, was Taylor-Britt taking a shot at Daniels or Kliff Kingsbury?

The Bengals figure to be an angry bunch on Monday. A preseason Super Bowl contender, Cincinnati cannot afford another loss.

But you know Washington head coach Dan Quinn will remind his team, particularly Daniels, of Taylor-Britt’s comments over the next few days.

Daniels has played well through two weeks, completing 75.5% of his passes for 410 yards and no turnovers. He’s also rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels has yet to throw for a touchdown, but the Commanders committed five penalties inside the red zone in their Week 2 win against the Giants.

If nothing else, Taylor-Britt’s comments added more intrigue to Monday night’s game.
