Bengals add firepower around Joe Burrow in new 2023 NFL mock draft

The Cincinnati Bengals are busy prepping for the AFC title game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the background though, NFL mock draft season is in full swing as the draft is the main topic of conversation for most of the teams in the league.

It’s always nice to check in on that sort of background thing, especially when an expert like NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah drops his first mock draft of the year.

In that first edition, the Bengals sit 28th and take Georgia tight end Darnell Washington:

“Washington can function as a sixth offensive lineman in the run game, regularly using his massive frame (6-7, 270) to dominate at the point of attack. The two-time national champion is still growing and developing in the passing game, though.”

The Bengals will likely look at best player available again, though marrying possible needs like tight end, offensive line and cornerback into that equation will be the best route.

Washington is an interesting case. The Bengals would surely like to have Hayden Hurst back after his superb showing on a one-year deal and there are unknowns like Drew Sample. Other areas like offensive tackle and corner might still take priority, though.

Either way, it’s another name to keep in mind as the background work on the draft continues.
