Hollywood star Benedict Cumberbatch bought a £8.1m mansion in the West Country. Stretching across 355 acres, the stunning estate boasts an organic farm and a cider orchard.
Located in the beautiful South Somerset countryside, locals are very excited about their neighbour. The world-famous actor and his wife Sophie Hunter agreed a deal on the country residence in April last year, according to recently released Land Registry documents.
The big purchase came just 12 months after the 46-year-old was spotted sipping local Somerset cider while filming a Hollywood movie near Martock. The 46-year-old also has a home in London with theatre director, playwright and actress Sophie, 44, reports Somerset Live.

The historic local house also features a library and a wine cellar, as well as "extraordinary" views over the South Somerset countryside. The property has links to English royalty, with the Sherlock actor himself being distantly related to King Richard III.
Photos circulating on social media in April 2021 showed Mr Cumberbatch enjoying the Somerset countryside while filming a scene for blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He was seen sampling a cider from Burrow Hill Farm while shooting at the location at Kingsbury Episcopi.
The actor was pictured wearing a mustard corduroy jacket with a bottle of cider in his hand. The visit to Somerset 21 months ago may have just persuaded Mr Cumberbatch to make a move to the area.
Benedict is currently filming a new Netflix series in New York and was spotted wearing a huge furry monster costume as he got into character. The actor who will take on the leading role of puppeteer Vincent Anderson, appeared disheveled in the thick fur-clad body.
The six-part series, titled Eric, follows Vincent as he searches for his son Edgar after he goes missing on his way to school.
