Benedict Cumberbatch And Olivia Colman To Star In Remake

British actor Elba highlights anti-knife crime campaign in London

Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman have been announced as the lead stars in an upcoming remake of 'The War of the Roses,' based on the 1981 Warren Adler novel of the same name. The original 1989 dark comedy film, directed by Danny DeVito, depicted the tumultuous divorce battle between a married couple.

The new adaptation of 'The War of the Roses' will see Cumberbatch portraying Theo and Colman playing Ivy, the central couple in the story. The project is being produced by Searchlight Pictures, with President Matthew Greenfield expressing excitement for the film, calling it a 'wildly funny, bigger than life, and deeply human story.'

Joining Cumberbatch and Colman are director Jay Roach and screenwriter Tony McNamara. Roach, known for his work on 'Bombshell' and 'Meet the Parents,' will helm the film, while McNamara, a two-time Oscar nominee, will pen the screenplay. The star-studded production team includes a lineup of industry veterans and promising talents.

Colman's previous roles in acclaimed TV shows like 'Fleabag' and 'Landscapers,' as well as her recent film 'Wicked Little Letters,' showcase her ability to portray complex characters undergoing personal turmoil. Her collaboration with McNamara, who previously worked with her on 'The Favourite,' adds to the anticipation surrounding the project.

Cumberbatch, known for his versatile performances, is set to bring his talent to the role of Theo in 'The War of the Roses.' The chemistry between Cumberbatch and Colman promises a captivating portrayal of the couple's unraveling relationship, making them ideal choices for the lead roles.

With a talented cast and crew assembled for the remake, 'The War of the Roses' is poised to deliver a fresh take on the classic story of marital discord. Fans of the original film and newcomers alike can look forward to an engaging and entertaining cinematic experience.
