Ben White returns to Arsenal as injury problem scuppers England call-up for Nations League clashes

Arsenal defender Ben White has had to pull of the England squad for their upcoming Nations League games due to injury.

White has been struggling for fitness towards the end of the season, with a hamstring injury disrupting his final few weeks of the campaign.

The centre-back played no part in Arsenal’s last game of the season against Everton, but he was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the two games against Hungary and matches with Germany and Italy next month.

White, however, has now had to pull out of the squad due to injury and he will undergo his rehabilitation at Arsenal.

No replacement has been called up by Southgate and it means he has 26 players for the four games next month.

The majority of that squad reported to St. George’s Park on Monday ahead of England’s game in Hungary on Saturday.

However, Raheem Sterling, Kieran Trippier and James Ward-Prowse will arrive on Tuesday as will Trent Alexander-Arnold following his participation in the Champions League final.
