Ben Stokes agrees to pay for fan's tattoo of his face four years on from Ashes heroics

England captain Ben Stokes has agreed to pay for a fan to get his face tattooed on them, four years after the all-rounder's stunning match winning innings at Headingley in the 2019 Ashes.

Having been bowled out for just 67 in their first innings, England were set a whopping 359 runs to win. And Stokes guided them to victory with a magnificent 135 not out, sharing an excellent last-wicket partnership with Jack Leach worth 76.

It was England's highest successful run chase and has gone down in history as one of the greatest Test matches ever played.

At the time, one supporter apparently agreed to get Stokes' face tattooed on him if England won. And his friends have been light-heartedly attempting to get him to follow through on his promise.

Last year, Twitter user @StephenStiffla shared a screenshot of the original conversation where the user wrote: "If he does this I'll get his face tattooed on me, what a gun".

They tagged Stokes in the tweet, writing: "@benstokes38 Any chance you fancy paying for @skeatesyy to get this tattoo ? Few years on and its still not happened".

However, they did not receive a reply from the England star until trying again this year. The user tagged Stokes again and asked: "@benstokes38 any chance mate ?"

This time, it caught Stokes' attention and he responded to the original tweet, simply writing: "Yeah". To which the user who agreed to get the tattoo, @skeatesyy, replied: "Shall I get a price skip?"

Stokes has enjoyed an excellent start to life as England captain, having replaced Joe Root as skipper in April. In his first series in charge, Stokes led England to a 3-0 series whitewash over New Zealand.
