Ben Shephard has told Kate Garraway that he was singing her praises at an event he was hosting - but felt 'uncomfortable' doing so. The pair, who have worked together and been friends for more than 20 years, were back at the helm of Good Morning Britain on Thursday (March 9).
As usual they brought viewers the latest news headlines which featured the current arctic blast sweeping the country as well as Gary Lineker's row with the government over his recent tweets criticising its migrant policy and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who have started to use Prince and Princess titles for their own children.
There was also the usual debates and entertainment news, which included the big reveal of the UK's Eurovision Song Contest entry for this year ahead of the competition being held in Liverpool. But during a brief chat between the pair live on air, Kate was left shocked to hear how Ben had described her as 'amazing' at a charity awards night.

On International Women's Day on Wednesday (March 8), Ben, 48, hosted a special event for the charity Dress For Success, who helps women who have been out of the workplace for a number of years get prepared for interviews as well as give them outfits to wear to meet potential employers.
"It was International Women's Day yesterday of course. I was at a lovely event last night for an amazing charity called Dress For Success who help women who have been out of the workplace for a number of years, mums who have decided to go back into the workplace, to get prepared for their interviews," Ben explained.
"They get them dress, they give them outfits and interview training." Kate then shared: "Do you know, a lot of out clothes from the show here go to that charity. Debbie in wardrobe gives them to charity. I often wonder how the poor souls struggling to get back into work would feel about wearing some of my things but it's a great charity."
Ben agreed saying: "It's an amazing charity. 80% success rate of the women that they help get back into the workplace and the impact that that has. But it did mean of course that I was talking about the women in my life that I'm surrounded by, that I'm very lucky to be surrounded by, so I was talking about you, Kate Garraway."
Clearly surprised, Kate, 55, asked: "Really? As an example of good womanhood or bad womanhood?" To which Ben, 48, replied: "I was singing your praises." Kate then replied in clear delight and slight confusion "Hello!" before Ben quipped: "It was very uncomfortable".
A clip of their exchange was then posted on Good Morning Britain's Twitter account which quoted Ben and said: "'I was talking about the women in my life I'm surrounded by, that I'm very lucky to be surrounded by, so I was talking about you @kategarraway!'"
TV and radio star Kate then reshared the post and said: "No one is more surprised than me ! Bless and morning all! @benshephard always bring the joy on a seriously chilly morning - do join us! @GMB."
