Ben Shephard speechless as Tipping Point winner details baffling plans for jackpot

Tipping Point host Ben Shephard was left speechless on a recent episode of the hit ITV game shame, as a winning contestant detailed the surprising way she plans to spend her jackpot.

Ben Shephard fans tuned in for another instalment of the dramatised arcade game, which sees contestants battle it out to win a cash prize.

The game show consists of a series of questions quizzers must answer to win counters, which are then dropped into a huge arcade-style coin machine separated into four drop zones.

During Monday’s episode of the ITV show, Claudia, Alison and Anssi battled it out to secure tokens to play in the Tipping Point machine.

Alison was the first to fall by the wayside, leaving Claudia and Anssi to go head to head in a bid to reach the final round.

The odds were in Claudia's favour and she made it through in the hopes of winning the £10,000 jackpot.

While she struggled with a number of questions, Claudia still managed to tip the coveted jackpot token over the counter.

After the triumph, Ben said: "You have just won £10,000, Claudia, how does it feel?"

She replied: "I can't believe it...amazing, it feels great."

The host then asked: "Tell me what you're going to do with the money now then?"

Claudia responded: "Definitely a trip to America and Nathan will kill me for saying but I am going to put some towards a wedding."

Before Ben could say anything she held her left hand up and added: "But I am not engaged."

Stunned, Ben replied: "Wow. So is that you proposing to Nathan?"

Claudia explained: "It's giving him a big prod," before Ben replied: “Oh, so he's still got to do that bit? You've been told, Nathan."

This comes after the Tipping Point machine has caused controversy amongst viewers with several fans claiming the piece of kit is ‘rigged’.

Ben, 47, set the record straight in an interview as he described how the famous counter machine is made up of a "complicated system".

In 2019, the part-time Good Morning Britain host gave fans an insight as he answered some of Britain's most-asked questions about the show.

He told Huffington Post: "It’s a really complicated system that is run by the gallery."

"It’s such a complicated set up, which is why when people ask if we can take it on the road, that’s the reason why we can’t," he added.

Whilst the machine runs on its own impressive electronics, there is still a person that plays a vital role of sitting behind the machine on a chair.

"He has to make sure the hydraulics are going at the right pace, because sometimes they can be too fast. He has to make sure the hoppers that feed the counter are full," Ben said.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
