The 2024 Independent Spirit Awards saw Ben Platt and Noah Galvin, co-stars and co-writers of Theater Camp, enjoying a romantic date night. The engaged couple, who announced their engagement in November 2022, attended the Santa Monica award ceremony together and even took the stage to present an award.
During their presentation of the Someone to Watch Award, Platt, 30, and Galvin, 29, shared loving glances and stood shoulder-to-shoulder. Platt was seen affectionately holding and patting Galvin on the hip during the presentation.
Galvin was nominated for best supporting performance for Theater Camp but lost to Da'Vine Joy Randolph for The Holdovers. Both actors, along with Molly Gordon and Nick Liberman, were also nominated for best first screenplay, which was won by Samy Burch and Alex Mechanik for May December.
On the red carpet, Platt and Galvin displayed their affection by holding hands and posing for photos together. At the New York City premiere of Theater Camp last July, the couple spoke about their collaboration on the film, emphasizing their shared sense of humor and taste.
The relationship between Platt and Galvin blossomed after they worked together on Dear Evan Hansen. Galvin replaced Platt in the show's titular role in 2017, leading to a close friendship and eventually a romantic relationship confirmed in May 2020.
In a 2022 interview, Platt expressed gratitude for their relationship, highlighting how the pandemic allowed them to strengthen their bond. He described Galvin as a grounding presence that complements his high-energy nature, making him feel fortunate to have him in his life.
