Ireland's Ben Healy has won his first-ever Grand Tour stage with a victory at the Giro d'Italia.
The 22-year old surged to an impressive victory in the 207km stage eight of the prestigious race.
Healy, who is competing in his first Grand Tour, was one of 13 riders who managed to form a breakaway group. Cresting the I Cappuccini climb he attacked and after powering up the Monte Delle Cesane climb, he'd built an impressive lead of two minutes from the chasing pack. He was a further four clear of the now distant peloton.

Healy then took on the I Cappuccini climb once again and on his descent powered to a superb victory. He even had time to sit up and celebrate the win as he crossed the line.
He has been in excellent form recently with stage victories at the Coppa I Bartalli before eye-catching performances in the Ardennes Classics such as second at the Amstel Gold Race and fourth in Liege Bastogne Liege.
Healy has represented the Irish National Team at the Road World Championships at junior and senior level, most recently finishing sixth in the time trial at the 2022 European Championships.
