ST. LOUIS _ Soccer fans across the country are wondering if the 2020 MLS season that was stalled after just two games will get off the bench anytime soon.
Around here, MLS fans in the making are more concerned that the coronavirus pandemic could scramble plans for 2022.
Coronavirus has not just stopped scheduled games. It's a threat to future ones. This is something the MLS4TheLou ownership group is working through as it prepares to launch MLS expansion team No. 28 in March 2022.
Without the coronavirus pandemic, we would probably know the new team's name and colors by now. More important, however, is how the spread of the virus and the efforts to stop it could affect the completion of the 22,500-seat stadium at Market and 20th streets.
The Post-Dispatch caught up with MLS4TheLou ownership group leader Carolyn Kindle Betz to discuss how her team is moving forward in some areas while pressing pause in others.
