Ben Foster's dramatic penalty save in Wrexham v Notts County prompts euphoria

Ben Foster was the hero for Wrexham as his last-minute penalty save handed the Dragons all three points during a thrilling win over Notts County at the Racecourse.

Goals from Paul Mullin and Jacob Mendy had seen Wrexham come back to lead after John Bostock's freekick handed County the lead.

Kyle Cameron then equalised for the visitors, before Elliott Lee popped up to slot home from close range, before Eoghan O'Connell was penalised for a handball deep into stoppage time.

But Cedwyn Scott's spot kick was kept out brilliantly by Foster, whose low save sent spirits soaring at the Racecourse Ground.

Speaking to BT after the game, Foster said: "We took 4,500 fans to Halifax last week and put on an awful performance and we needed something big. That was incredible.

"You just dive and hope for the best. If you go the right way and you get a hand on it, you'd like to think you'll save it. To go in 1-0 down at half-time we were a little despondent, but second half the boys were incredible.

"It's almost a shambles that only two teams get promoted from this league. We're far and away the best two teams. They need to look at that. But fair play to Notts County. That's as good a game I've played in. Hopefully the neutrals enjoyed it too."
