Ben Foster has admitted he struggled with one certain aspect of his game on his return to football.
The former England and Premier League goalkeeper came out of retirement last week to sign a short-term deal with high-flying Wrexham - who are just a few games away from earning promotion back to the EFL. Foster had revealed that he has received offers to play in the top flight, with both Tottenham and Newcastle attempting to sign him, with Geography being an issue for the 39-year-old, who wants to stay close to his family.
But after number one stopper Rob Lainton was ruled out for the rest of the season, the club contacted Foster on whether he'd be interested in joining - and chose to agree to do so on a deal until the end of the season.
On his return, Foster kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 win to keep Wrexham atop of the table. And while the goalkeeper enjoyed his first game back, he admitted he had struggled communicating with his players.
Speaking on the Fozzcast, he said: "You know one thing I did notice that I thought was funny. I was trying to shout and talk to my players and my voice just was not as loud... It's like my voice has deteriorated, I swear!
"I was shouting and I was thinking that nobody could here me. We are in the National League - 10,000 fans. No other country could do that. This club is going somewhere, I am telling you."
It's a huge step down for the veteran, who had been a Premier League starter with Watford last season.
But Foster wanted to return to the club who helped him start his career. He spent a spell on loan with the north Welsh club in 2005, where he impressed and then joined Manchester United.
Wrexham have actually now fallen to second place in the league, but do have two games in hand of Notts County and currently sit on the same amount points.
The two teams are set to face each other on Easter Monday (April 10) in a game that will go a long way in deciding the title, with only one team gaining automatic promotion.
