Ben Doak scores against Rangers as Celtic academy product continues goal spree in Liverpool win

Ben Doak made headlines by appearing against Rangers for Celtic at 16 - now he's scored against the Light Blues at Liverpool.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's senior side are in action against Jurgen Klopp's at Anfield on Tuesday night but their youngsters have met in their latest UEFA Youth League Group A match. It's not been a great afternoon for Rangers as they fell to a 4-1 defeat against an impressive Liverpool side that has Doak at the heart of it.

Jarell Quansah met Dom Corness' corner and Oakley Cannonier applied the finishing touch to make it 1-0 and Rangers had a two-goal deficit to cut before the half-hour mark. Celtic academy product Doak showed poacher's instincts at the back post to tap home a Bobby Clark shot that had cannoned off the post before Quansah put the game beyond reasonable doubt with a third Liverpool effort. Luke Chambers added a fourth in stoppage time and Connor Young grabbed an away consolation.

It leaves Rangers with three points in the group also involving Ajax and Napoli, mirroring the senior Champions League group involving the Ibrox club.

Doak meanwhile has made a name for himself as one of the Premier League club's most promising prospects after leaving Celtic earlier this year. He's already netted in this competition and scored on his Scotland U21s debut last month.

Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou had handed minutes in a 3-0 derby success at Parkhead but the lure of Anfield proved too good to turn down.
