Ben Doak's form after Celtic is of no surprise to Scotland U21s boss Scot Gemmill after a fantastic debut from the Liverpool youngster.
Still only 16, the attack-minded player made his senior Hoops debut last season and appeared in a derby against Rangers before Liverpool lured him south of the border. He featured for the elite Scotland youth side for the first time on Thursday from the bench in a 3-1 win over Northern Ireland, where he scored in a blistering display.
Doak has also netted for the Reds in UEFA Youth League action but while pleased with his group's win as a whole, Gemmill wasn't surprised by the impact of the Celtic academy graduate: "I've seen Ben play so I wasn't surprised at what he can do. He's really exciting. I wasn't surprised, but it is always good to see it happen. There were good things and there were things that we know we need to correct.

"So there was a bit of everything. The new players needed to take their opportunities because there are no guarantees in the future.
"I told them that before the game. They had to show what they can do. They have to go and show they can be trusted and are willing to do the work.
"I thought their application was good. Of course, there were things in the game that we need to fix and we can help them with and we will."
