Ben Davies sends hilarious message to Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski after win

Ben Davies has revealed what he thinks helped Tottenham get the three points against Brighton on Wednesday, but also joked that his teammates could have made life a lot easier. Antonio Conte's side secured three points on their trip to the Amex Stadium on Wednesday night, stopping the Seagulls having a shot on target in the process.

The victory takes Spurs back to seventh place in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who do have a game in hand. Goals from Cristian Romero and Harry Kane have kept the Lilywhites' hopes of a top four spot alive and made Kane the all-time top Premier League away goalscorer.

Davies made an impact at both ends of the field with a solid performance overall, having one shot at goal and making two tackles and four clearances during the game. The Welsh international has been one player who has improved since the Italian's arrival and is helping to keep a strong back line, alongside Romero and Eric Dier.

After the game he gave his verdict on his side's performance, in his post match interview with Spurs TV, which Conte also agreed with.

"I thought we started the game well. We created a lot of chances. First half we kept them at bay and we were solid," the defender admitted. "It was hard to break them down, we needed a bit of luck but we were on top and I thought it could've been more in the end.

"A good performance, the team put in a very good performance, the last period I am seeing great improvement," Conte admitted in his post match press conference. "We created many chances to also improve the final result. It means we are improving and we are trying to go in another step to try to be very close to the top of the table."

Tottenham had 52 per cent of the possession and 17 shots, with seven of them on target. There were, however, some missed opportunities in front of goal and maybe some chances which could have been executed better, something Davies had a joke about in the interview afterwards.

"The boys up top could've made it easier for us if they had put a few in earlier," the Welshman said, smiling. "But we were happy, we kept the ball well and created chances, so that's all we can ask for."

Romero's goal was his first goal for the club and he has already worked hard to show his quality and aggression both on and off the ball. The Tottenham players all celebrated with him after his somewhat lucky goal hit the back of the net. "Delighted for him," Davies explained. "I think he's been very good for us lately and to see him get that goal...buzzing.

The two January signings also got praise from their new teammate, after another game with them making an impact. Dejan Kulusevski had three shots at goal and made two key passes, whilst Rodrigo Bentancur made a key pass and three clearances.

"That's all you can ask when you get new boys in - to try and bring some quality and to try and improve us as a team and I think they're showing now that they've had a run of games what they bring, the quality they bring and we're getting a good result like tonight where they all performed well," Davies admitted.

Spurs now have just a few days to prepare before their next fixture, which is a London derby against West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both teams are still battling for a spot in the top four, with the sides sitting level on points going into the fixture, although the Lilywhites have a game in hand.

Davies was asked about the upcoming game and how vital it is for Conte's side to get the three points. "It's a massive game and that's what we're striving for, that consistency, but now it's about following that process," he explained.

"We've got to stick to what we're doing, believe it's going to work. We've shown in patches that we can match any team, so it's about putting in a good performance at the weekend." The Italian will be hoping his side can do just that when they welcome David Moyes' sides to N17 on Sunday.
