Rangers have completed the £4m signing of Ben Davies from Liverpool in a four-year deal as the Englishman becomes the sixth summer arrival at Ibrox.
Defender Davies moved to Anfield 18 months ago from Preston North End for a reported fee of around £500,000 but the stopper failed to make a first team appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s men and was loaned out to Sheffield United last season following the Blades relegation from the English Premier League.
The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Deepdale and spent eight years in Lancashire during which he had various loan spells away. He was linked with a move to Celtic before his move to Liverpool but has now sealed a deal across the city with Giovanni van Bronckhorst landing the stopper. Davies, who can play centre back or left back, follows Antonio Colak, Rabbi Matondo, Malik Tillman, Tom Lawrence and John Souttar in arriving this summer.
Delighted Davies said: “I am very excited to join Rangers and I am really looking forward to taking this next step in my career.
It’s a huge club with big ambitions and I can’t wait to get started.
And chuffed boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst added: “I would like to welcome Ben to our squad and I am delighted he has joined the club. He is a strong defender with great qualities and will further add to our options in that area."
Sporting Director, Ross Wilson said: “I am delighted Ben has chosen Rangers as the next step in his career and Giovanni and our coaching staff are looking forward to working with him as we head into the new season.”
