Ben Davies addresses Celtic transfer chance as he vows to make Rangers his 'home' after Parkhead no-go

Coy Ben Davies says he couldn't say no to Liverpool when they came calling to scupper Celtic's interest 18 months ago. But now he's vowed to make Rangers his "home" after leaving the Anfield giants.

English centre-back Davies penned a four-year deal at Ibrox last week in a major boost to Gio van Bronckhorst's defensive options. He arrived from Liverpool after 18 months with the Merseysiders, where he failed to make a single first-team appearance.

Davies had been close to signing for Celtic under Neil Lennon in January last year, but the Reds swooped in late on to land him from Preston as Jurgen Klopp sought emergency defensive cover. But he struggled to push on and after spending last season on loan at Sheffield United, he now heads to Ibrox in a £4million deal. The 26-year-old was quizzed by Sky Sports on Celtic's previous interest in him, but keeping it coy, he says his focus is now on making Rangers his "home" for the long-term.

He said: "There were clubs interested at the time before I went to Liverpool. I've been quite fortunate there's been clubs interested quite a lot throughout my career. I decided to go to Liverpool and I was happy with that decision, and now I'm delighted to be at Rangers. Football is football at the end of the day. I'm happy to be here and I'm looking forward to attacking it.

"I feel like the contract I've signed here is going to make this a home. I want to look back at this as the best period of my career. I've got a lot to give, I've got many more years to come, I want to really get settled here and show everyone what I can do week in week out."
