THE owner of a beloved bakery in Edinburgh has made the “deeply” sad decision to close the business, but has hailed their customers' “unwavering support”.
The owner of Allan’s Bakery, on Restalrig Road, made the shock announcement on social media, citing health issues and being the sole baker at the business as the reason for the decision to close.
In the post, Allan expressed his gratitude to his customers for supporting small businesses through “challenging times”.
He wrote on the social media platform Facebook: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you who have supported Allan’s Bakery over the years.
“In particular, I would like to acknowledge the unwavering support during the challenging times that small businesses have faced in recent years.
“Regrettably, I am currently facing health challenges that have rendered me unable to resume my work until my recovery in a few months, provided that my condition improves.
“As the sole baker of the business, this situation has necessitated the closure of the shop. My lease agreement with the property will expire at the end of the month, and I am deeply saddened to inform you that Allan’s Bakery will not reopen.”
Customers of the bakery flooded the comments sharing their support and well wishes for Allan as one person wrote: “So sorry to hear hope you get better soon the bakery will be sadly missed but your health is what counts.”
