A beloved Bellshill combat gym owner has thanked the local community as it celebrates its 11 year anniversary.
Fighting Scots Gym, which offers boxing, Thai boxing and a range of fitness and fighting classes to people of all ages and abilities, is celebrating its 11 year anniversary this week.
Owner Francis Gilluley has made it his mission to give back to the community throughout the years through charity and offering classes to children with disabilities.
However, Francis has thanked the community that he has done so much for continuing to support his gym.
He spoke to Lanarkshire Live: “We have come a long way in 11 years. From helping the community to doing shows with celebrities.
"We have worked hard over the years, but we are really reaping the rewards now. We do love to provide a service to the community.
“We try to cater for everybody, from youngsters to older folk. We take in all levels of fitness and ability. We have done stuff with kids with special needs and autism.
"We like to hone into the community to provide for everybody. My father passed away two years ago, and we set up a charity in his name to help people across the board.
“Within the community, we have made it our mission to try and tackle the obesity problem and offer a healthy living option with the FSG Fit Food Meals for folk to sit in or take away.
“All the sponsors and loyal members who have supported us through the years has led us here.”
Alongside offering a special membership offer for their anniversary, the gym is preparing for its upcoming fight night at the Hilton in Glasgow Central on March 17.
Francis added: “We have novice fighters to ex-professionals all fighting on our upcoming card. There are folk who were close, but perhaps maybe never quite made it as far as they thought they could.
"So, we are offering people a good platform, and it will be a great show.”
