Bella Hadid, Beyoncé, Zendaya and the Biebers snub the Met Gala

Several big names were noticeably absent from the Met Gala on Monday.

Among the celebrities that chose not to attend the annual fundraising gala this year were Bella Hadid, Beyonce, Zendaya, Justin and Hailey Bieber - much to fans’ disappointment.

The hotly-anticipated event, held in New York City, attracted an array of stars including Rihanna, Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian, as the Metropolitan Museum’s exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty was revealed.

Guests wore ensembles made in tribute to the late designer, who died aged 85 in 2019.

Fans had hoped style icon Bella, 26, would make an appearance at the Met Gala, joining her sister Gigi Hadid, who stunned on the red carpet at the event, but the supermodel was a no-show.

Bella attended the Met Gala last year in a striking leather and lace Burberry gown for the theme In America: An Anthology of Fashion.

Fellow style icon and regular Met Gala attendee Zendaya, 26, missed the event also to the upset of fans, along with Beyonce, who is gearing up for the first show of her Renaissance tour, in Stockholm on May 10.

The Break My Soul singer, 41, made her last public appearance at the Grammys in February, and has since been keeping a low-profile ahead of her world tour.

Met Gala favourite Hailey, 26, also did not attend, along with husband Justin, 29.

A leaked direct message allegedly sent by Hailey prior to the Met Gala, indicated that she would not be going, as she focused on the next launch in her beauty line Rhode.

The message read: “I’m not going to the Met Gala this year.

“Gearing up for our next Rhode launch so decided to sit this one out but will be back next year.”

Other names also not in attendance at the Met Gala on Monday were Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

Blake Lively, who welcomed her fourth child in February, poked fun at missing out on the Met Gala this year as she posted a photo of her spending her “first Monday of May” breast pumping.

The actress, 35, made a showstopping appearance at the Met Gala last year wearing an Atelier Versace gown made in tribute to New York City.
