Believe in Scotland plans rallies in Edinburgh and Glasgow in 2024

BELIEVE in Scotland (BiS) has submitted applications to host two national rallies in 2024.

Announced on social media on Wednesday evening, the group has put forward applications to host a Glasgow march and rally and an Edinburgh one too.

The independence campaign group previously teamed up with one of its affiliated national Yes groups, Yes for EU, to host their first march in Edinburgh on September 2 this year.

The two will partner up again to deliver the Edinburgh rally, and Pensioners for Indy will assist in hosting the groups first ever rally in Glasgow.

Announcing the news, BiS wrote: "We have been overwhelmed with requests to do it again, so we are pleased to announce that Believe in Scotland has now submitted applications for two March and Rallies in 2024.

"One in Glasgow in partnership with Pensioners for Indy and one in Edinburgh in partnership with Yes for EU."

The group said it hopes to be able to announce confirmed dates in the coming weeks.

Marchers headed down the Royal Mile to the Scottish Parliament in September, where a rally hosted by Kelly Given and Alistair Heather took place.

Speakers at the event included Lesley Riddoch, Humza Yousaf and the Minister for Independence Jamie Hepburn.

The First Minister said that Scotland was suffering from a "cost of the Union" crisis and that independence is needed now "more than ever".

Several high-profile guests are expected to speak at the future events including actor Brian Cox, who pulled out of the rally in Edinburgh last-minute due to catching Covid. He said at the time he hoped to make the next one.
