An alleyway in Belfast, described by residents as “West Belfast’s worst”, will be cleared and cleaned, the Department for Infrastructure has said.
Those living near the alleyway in Clonard Court say it had "long-been abandoned" before they sought support from local People Before Profit MLA Gerry Carroll.
The Department for Infrastructure will now clear the alley of "years’ worth of overgrowth, litter, and debris".

Speaking about the local issue, Gerry Carroll said: "I am delighted that the Department for Infrastructure have finally taken responsibility for this alleyway.
"This alleyway had become a real bane for residents who will be glad to see it restored. It is hoped that works will commence in the coming days.
"Too many of Belfast’s alleyways are in desperate need maintenance. Statutory agencies need to invest more in routine maintenance and they need to do more to recruit and retain workers tasked with the upkeep of our alleyways."
A Departmental spokesperson told Belfast Live: "Belfast City Council and DfI are working together to have the alleyway cleared of rubbish and weeds. Once completed the alley will then be powerwashed."
