Work on a new pedestrian and cyclist road safety improvement scheme will begin in East Belfast at the start of next year.
The £900,000 project will begin on Monday, January 9, on the A55 Knockbreda Road at the junction with Cregagh Road.
It will include the realignment, widening and resurfacing of the carriageway with improved provision for cyclists and pedestrians to include the upgrade of the existing traffic signals and the addition of toucan crossings on the main legs of the junction.

The works will also create a direct connection between the Connswater Greenway and Cregagh Glen.
Lane closures will be in place while the scheme is being developed between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday.
Access to the cycle lane along this stretch of road will also be limited at certain times.
The Department has said it has carefully planned the work and associated traffic management arrangements in order to minimise disruption, however, some delays are to be expected and road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey or if possible seek an alternative route. Local access for residents, businesses, school users and emergency services will be maintained.
The Department would ask the public for their patience while these works are completed.
Subject to favourable weather conditions all work will be completed by end of April 2023.
