Belfast boxer Padraig McCrory ready to take on new role after starting licence application

Unbeaten Belfast fighter Padraig McCrory is already looking to the future after revealing he intends moving into boxing management.

'The Hammer' has started the process of applying for his British Boxing Board of Control manager's licence.

The 34-year-old insists his full focus remains on his current career inside the ring, but admits he could take on a dual role before he hangs up the gloves.

He said on social media: "I've recently started the process of applying for my BBBofC managers licence! If all goes to plan I will be entering the world of boxing management.

"Managing boxers is something I've always been interested in. With my own experiences from small hall boxing to boxing in arenas I think it's a role I would thrive in.

"Boxing is a sport I've really enjoyed being involved in and something I will continue to be involved in

"For now, my no.1 focus is my own career but I believe both can work hand in hand.

"Keep your eyes open for more developments on this."

McCrory hit the heights in 2022, winning the IBO World light-heavyweight title in Germany against Leon Bunn.

He has also climbed the rankings in the super-middleweight division and is expected to return to 160lbs this year.

His next assignment could be a big headline fight at the SSE Arena on St Patrick's Day.
