‘Being an All-Star many years’: Cason Wallace sets career goals

The Oklahoma City Thunder added an additional lottery talent to their young core this past draft. After a trade-up, the Thunder selected Cason Wallace with the No. 10 pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

The selection gives the Thunder another solid wing who can defend and shoot. Most draft experts expect him to pan out as a high-end starter, but Wallace has higher aspirations.

In an interview with “Playmaker,” Wallace set his career goals as he prepares to start his rookie campaign.

“Being an All-Star many years, defensive player of the year a few times, national championship,” Wallace said. “I want a ‘MyCareer’ career — if that makes sense. I want to be a household name in the league.”

The 19-year-old will look to outperform his pre-draft evaluations and the Thunder provide the perfect environment to maximize the odds of that happening.

Wallace might be limited in his first year due to the Thunder’s abundance of talent, but that shouldn’t stop him from believing he can’t eventually fulfill his prophecy.
