Behind the scenes of Emmerdale: Can you get a pint in the Woolpack pub?

The Woolpack is one of the most iconic settings in British television.

The pub is the meeting place for the characters of Emmerdale and has been the backdrop to some of the show's most dramatic moments. Legendary figures have run the pub and it's now spearheaded by landladies, Chas and Charity Dingle, following a complicated ownership battle.

The Woolpack was recently forced to undergo a makeover after it was destroyed in an explosion last year. The new Woolpack was unveiled in March and featured a new sign at the front of the pub.

The old Woolpack promised characters could enjoy a range of "hand pulled traditional ales, chilled lager, fine wine and hot and cold food." The renovation has saw an upgrade in the Woolpack's offering as the new sign reads: "Real ales & craft beers, fine wines, locally sourced homemade food."

However, is it possible for members of the public to enjoy an alcoholic beverage in the surroundings of the fictional pub? The ECHO was invited to an event at Emmerdale farm as the show marked its 50th anniversary celebrations.

Fans of the show can also visit the Woolpack on the Emmerdale Village Tour, but people are unfortunately unable to enter The Woolpack as it is only used for exterior filming. Interior scenes are filmed in the show's studio located in Leeds City Centre.

Fans can get a glimpse of the inside of The Woolpack on the Emmerdale Studio Experience where they can get a photo taken in the iconic pub. However, viewers can enjoy a pint in the boozer which previously served as Emmerdale's famous pub.

The real life Woolpack is located in Esholt village and was used for external shots of the pub between 1976 and 1996 until filming was moved to the Emmerdale village.
