A beggar has been arrested after “abusing” a PCSO in Bolton town centre.
Police say the known beggar was spotted on Trinity Street near Sainsbury's on Tuesday (April 5). He had been by some traffic lights at a busy junction at the time.
After being asked to pack up his things and leave, the PCSO was met with abuse, according to GMP Bolton North. He was then arrested for a public order offence.
He was also wanted for breaching his bail conditions, officers say.
A spokesman for GMP said: “GMP Bolton North Whilst on duty an observant PCSO spotted a known beggar at the traffic lights at the busy junction on Trinity Street entrance to Sainsburys after asking the male to pack up his things and leave the area, the PCSO was met with abuse from the beggar which resulted in him being arrested for a public order offence, unfortunately the male was also wanted for breaching his bail conditions.”
