Before and after photos show amount of rebuilding work needed at fire-hit Nottinghamshire pub Tap & Run

Rebuilding work is getting under way at the fire-hit Tap & Run. The pub, owned by England cricketer Stuart Broad and former Nottinghamshire seamer Harry Gurney was destroyed when a blaze broke out in the early hours of June 11.

Before and after shots have been posted on Twitter showing the amount of work required to restore the pub, in Upper Broughton, to its former glory. The roof was unsalvageable and the interior was gutted by the flames, smoke and water damage, leaving just the walls standing.

Work began at the end of June to dismantle the roof and strip back inside. The photos show where the bar once stood at the gastro pub and the extent of the damage at the village pub in Main Road.

In the post the owners said: "The pub has now been fully stripped back to brick and the rebuilding has commenced. Hopefully we’ll see a roof on by the start of October, so the real work inside can begin."

The blaze broke out in the roof. Firefighters who attended the scene ruled the blaze was accidental although the exact cause could not be pinpointed. The cost of the rebuild, decorating and furniture for the gastro pub was put at around £1m, said Mr Gurney back in June.

"Although the trading space on the ground floor isn't particularly fire damaged it was smoked damaged and water. So much water poured into the building to put the fire out downstairs is pretty much ruined and everything is pretty much a write-off with the exception of the odd table and chair," he said.
