Beeston library reopens after deliberate toilet fire forced its closure

A Nottinghamshire library has reopened after a deliberate fire in its toilet forced it to close. The fire was deliberately started in the library on Foster Avenue, Beeston, at around 2pm on Saturday (February 4).

Two firefighters entered the building and managed to stop the flames spreading, but there was significant damage to the library's toilet. A joint investigation was subsequently launched into the blaze by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police.

The library was closed for three days due to the fire, reopening on Tuesday (February 7). In a Facebook post, Stapleford fire station said after the incident: "We attended a deliberately set fire in a public building on Foster Avenue, Beeston. Two firefighters entered the building wearing breathing apparatus sets and used a hose reel jet to stop the fire spreading.
