These fresh bedroom ideas present new ways to approach everything from bedroom colour schemes to incorporating the hottest home decor trends in a way that makes sense for your sleep sanctuary, as that’s exactly what a bedroom is meant to be – a haven of rest and relaxation that recharges your batteries for the day ahead. But as long as you keep sight of that, we and the bedroom experts encourage you to embrace any of the new trends that catch your eye and speak to you to your heart’s content.
1. Invest in natural, eco-friendly materials
Sustainable living has been becoming more and more mainstream over the last few years. And with one of this year’s biggest focuses being wellbeing, which is to be reflected in our interiors too as demonstrated by Pantone’s colour of the year for 2025, Mocha Mousse, eco-friendly materials are set to be embraced even further. And that goes for our bedrooms, too.
‘As we enter 2025, bedroom design trends are evolving to emphasise sustainability and personalised comfort. Sustainable and eco-friendly materials are key, think bedding and decor made from organic cotton, bamboo, or hemp to create a healthier sleeping environment,’ Joanne at Wren says.
2. Opt for warm, earthy tones
Speaking of decorating with Pantone’s Mocha Mousse, this colour of the year reveal only solidified the colour palette for 2025 which is filled with warm, earthy tones.
‘In 2025, bedroom colour trends are embracing warm, earthy tones that create a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Leading this movement is Pantone's colour of the year, Mocha Mousse, an evocative soft brown that transports our senses into the pleasure and deliciousness it inspires. This sophisticated yet unpretentious shade extends our perception of brown from being humble and grounded to embracing aspirational and luxe, making it an ideal choice for bedroom walls, bedding, or accent pieces to foster a sense of comfort and indulgence,’ Joanne at Wren says.
Alex Bridgman, CEO of Bridgman, agrees, ‘Earthy neutrals have dominated interior schemes for the past few years, offering warmer, cooler alternatives to the grey, muted palette that came before. Mocha Mousse cements this. More than just a colour, this earthy tone speaks to a desire for warmth, comfort, and a connection to nature as seen in the rising popularity of “chocolate neutrals” in both interior and garden design. This timeless colour palette can be incorporated into various design elements, from paint and bedroom furniture to textiles and accessories, allowing homeowners to embrace its comforting and grounding energy.’
3. Turn your headboard into art
Very often in small bedroom ideas, there isn’t space for much more than the bed. And even in larger bedrooms, the bed is the centrepiece and the largest piece of furniture in the room, one that everything else revolves around. So you might as well make a statement with it!
‘Statement beds with tall and shaped headboards are on the rise as an item that can pull design focus in a bedroom,’ says Adam Black, co-founder of Button & Sprung. ‘Striking colours and captivating patterns which are as much a statement of self as a carefully curated collection of artwork; it is the ultimate in bedroom personalisation.’
Andrew Seed, managing director at The Odd Company, continues on the topic of this showstopping headboard idea, ‘If you've had a quick scroll through Pinterest bedrooms or checked out some of the high-end hotel websites in England, you’ll have noticed how much statement headboards have taken off recently. They’re really making their mark, and I reckon in 2025, we'll see these become more common in British homes. While some of the luxury designs might seem out of reach, there are plenty of ways to get the look. You don’t need a designer headboard to make a statement; it’s all about getting something that stands out in your space, whether it’s a bold colour or an interesting shape. Headboards can add so much personality, turning a simple bed into the focal point of the room.’
4. Utilise smart tech
Smart home ideas are becoming increasingly popular as they make our lives so much easier. And what better place to incorporate some of these little helpers than the bedroom so that the tech can assist you when you’re the most tired just before going to bed or right when you wake up, especially those controlling the lighting and heating.
‘Smart technology integration is going to be big in 2025. Install systems that allow adjustment of brightness and colour temperature to suit your mood or time of day,’ Joanne at Wren says.
5. Incorporate plants
It’s proven that houseplants improve our wellbeing. Not to mention that they improve the air quality and make a room come alive. So dotting a few plants around the bedroom is a must in our opinion. Just make sure you stick to the best plants for the bedroom when choosing your varieties.
‘Biophilic design elements are trending. Introduce greenery to improve air quality and add a natural touch to your bedroom,’ Joanne at Wren says.
6. Embrace a bold colour scheme
If cosy bedroom ideas filled with earthy shades are not quite your cup of tea, you can go bolder as many are set to do in 2025, with the likes of the burgundy and purple decor trend going strong this year.
‘There has been a steady increase in the use of oxblood, burgundy and red-toned browns, as consumers look to move away from the more Scandi and minimalistic colour palettes seen previously, Alex at Bridgman says.
Andrew at The Odd Company continues, ‘Towards the end of 2024, we started seeing interior designers and homeowners pushing the boundaries a bit – ditching lighter shades for darker, richer tones. They are set to dominate throughout bedding, canopies, headboards, and accents like vintage lamps and statement pieces. Pink and red were, without a doubt, the surprise power combo of 2024. It took a lot of people by surprise, but it absolutely worked. That unexpected duo has really paved the way for burgundy to take centre stage in 2025 as Pinterest searches for ‘burgundy bedroom’ were up 70% in the last year.’
But if burgundy and the like is too dark for you and you prefer a bold colour scheme that is vibrant and fun, yellow is one of the surprising shades that’s rising in popularity. ‘Bold colour palettes can bring vibrancy and personality to your space. Warm yellows like Dulux's colour of the year for 2025, True Joy add a vibrant energy to spaces, while deep burgundies and moody purples offer a sense of depth and luxury,’ Joanne at Wren explains.
7. Go big with a canopy bed
If you’re in the market for a new bed with a contemporary and unexpected style, then a canopy bed could be the one for you as their popularity is certainly on the up.
‘Victorian influences are set to make a major comeback in 2025. This trend is about creating spaces that feel both luxury and curated over time. One of the standout features will be the resurgence of bed canopies, with Pinterest searches for them having soared by 30% over the last year. Bed canopies don’t only bring a regal vibe to bedrooms, but they also offer an extra touch of privacy. With four-poster beds also trending, there’s no doubt that 2025 is shaping up to be about bedrooms that are romantic and regal,’ Andrew at The Odd Company says.

8. Don’t hold back
This year’s decorating trends are not for the faint of heart as confidence and individuality is valued over pared-back minimalism and sophistication with the likes of the dopamine decor trend largely defining 2025‘s direction.
‘More is definitely more in 2025,’ says Kirsty Barton, brand storytelling manager at Alternative Flooring. ‘Maximalism celebrates bold, beautiful interiors with vibrant colours, intricate textures, and layers of visual interest. Think big patterns paired with playful accents – a mix that feels curated, not chaotic. Stripes, in particular, are having their moment, and we’re ready to shake things up.’
9. Choose a curvy bed
Soft curves are not only one of the biggest living room trends - and specifically sofa trends - this style has also made its way into the bedroom space over the last couple of years. And curves in bedrooms are not going anywhere in 2025, with scalloped and wavy headboards still largely embraced.
‘We recommend choosing tactile fabrics such as boucle, cotton, or linen, and selecting a bed frame with soft curves,’ says Mark Tremlett, founder of Naturalmat. ‘Although sleek lines and industrial furniture have their place in the bedroom, a timeless design at the forefront of 2025 is the use of soft and delicate curves. As far as curved headboards go, an arch is one of the simplest shapes - perfect for those that don't want anything too complicated or busy in their bedrooms. We especially love this John Lewis design as it comes in several different colours and materials to suit any bedroom decor.
