Three schoolgirls have been praised by police for helping an elderly lady who appeared lost and confused in Northumberland.
Georgia Pyle, 14, Isabella Blench, 11, and Megan Mole, 14, said they began to become concerned about a lady, who is believed to have dementia, when they were stopped by her and asked if they wanted to see a dog. The lady proceeded to pull a teddy from her bag which she placed on the floor and began patting her bag asking it to come to her.
The girls, who were on their way back from the Bank Top Park, in Bedlington, when they noticed the lady started to realise that there was something not quite right so they started talking to her and trying to get her away from the road. While Megan stayed with her, Isabella and Georgia visited a local care home to ask for help.

Isabella said: "We did what we did because we know there's a lot of not very nice people and we were worried that someone would hurt her."
Once the lady was at the care home staff managed to alert police who were able to take her back home. And now the girls have received a certificate for outstanding contribution to public safety from Northumbria Police for their efforts.
Georgia's mum Terri said: "We're over the moon with how the girls acted. Georgia's always been a kind hearted girl, but there's not many kids that would have talked to an older lady, they would have tried to brush her off or walked away."
She added: "The girls were so upset about her and they didn't want to leave her on her own because they were worried that somebody else would come along and be nasty to her or take advantage of her or she got even more lost."
Isabella's mum Leah added: "I think it's fantastic what the girls did. Isabella's only 11-year-old but she showed a good, mature initiative because obviously the girls had to try and befriend the lady and get her comfortable to go with them.
"Isabella was breaking her heart when she rang me and told me about it. She was sobbing and saying anything could have happened to her, I'm so worried about her. She's head girl at school and I think part of the reason she was voted is because she's so kind and funny.
"For the three girls to have helped the lady I think it's great, I'm so proud of them."
