Becky Lynch fires warning to WWE Royal Rumble opponent Doudrop ahead of their title match

WWE Raw women’s champion Becky Lynch had some savage remarks for Doudrop ahead of their Royal Rumble match.

‘Big Time Becks’ will put her title on the line against the powerful Scottish star at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri tomorrow night.

Doudrop, previously known as Piper Niven during her time on NXT UK, earned the right to face Becky at the prestigious event by winning a triple threat match against Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair on Raw earlier this month.

Excluding her time away from the company in which she gave birth, Lynch has held a title since 2019 and has seen off some stiff competition during that period.

But with her size and strength, Doudrop will pose one of the biggest threats to Lynch's title so far, but despite the mammoth task ahead, the 'Lass Kicker' remains supremely confident and fired some bold comments in the direction of her opponent, who she known since her days fighting in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

"So here's the thing. I’m The Man and she's a fan", the champion remarked.

"When she was starting out, we were both teenagers at the time, but I had made a name for myself all over the world. All over Europe, all over America, Canada, Japan, and with few role models to look at.

"She looked at this Rebecca Knox who was just breaking barriers all over the place, and then I was gone. And so I imagine when I re-emerged at WWE years later to change the landscape of women's wrestling, she was just beside herself.

"Now I think she's putting on a bit of a bravado, trying to act tough, trying to hold it together because she's insecure that she's going against her idol."

Dourdrop has previously said this encounter is 15 years in the making and Lynch appears to be ready for the challenge that awaits her.

The event has been kind to 34-year-old in recent years, especially in 2019 when she was inserted into the match as a replacement for the injured Lana, before going on to win.

She would participate in the first-ever women's main event at WrestleMania three months later, and made history when she defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to capture both the Raw and SmackDown women's titles.

In 2020, the Irishwoman overcame Asuka in a singles match to retain her Raw women's title.

Lynch has always enjoyed fond memories of watching the Royal Rumble as a child, but it came as no surprise when she revealed her all-time favourite moment from the show's history.

"Royal Rumble was always the pay-per-view that I would stay up to watch, mostly because it was free on Irish television," she explained.

"Obviously because of the time difference it would start at 1:00 AM and I’d be up to 4:00am in the morning watching it. I just loved it.

"I loved the surprise element. That's the best thing about the Royal Rumble. It's the surprises. You don't know who's going to come out. You don't know when they're going to come out. It's awesome.

"Obviously for myself, my favourite Royal Rumble moment would be when I won the Royal Rumble."

The all-star grappler will be keeping a close eye on proceedings this Saturday, as the winner of the women's Rumble match may look to challenge her for the coveted belt should she emerge victorious over Doudrop.

One person who may have Lynch in their sights is the aforementioned Ronda Rousey, as reports suggest WWE are talking about the possibility of bringing the fighter back for the showpiece event.

Lynch took to twitter to respond to the rumours of her old foe’s potential return for the first time since she was beaten by the Irishwoman at WrestleMania 35.

"Was wondering if you'd show up again,” she said with her usual confidence and swagger.

“I've still got her [the Raw Women's Championship] and she's doing great."

Becky and Ronda still haven’t faced each other one on one, will we see the pair collide at WrestleMania 38? If so, we are in for a treat.
