Beckham family 'rift' could see Brooklyn miss David’s 50th birthday

Brooklyn Beckham could miss celebrations for his dad David’s 50th birthday next month amid reports of an ongoing family ‘rift’.

Relations between David and Victoria Beckham and their eldest son are said to be ‘strained’, after Brooklyn stayed silent on social media during his mother’s 51st birthday celebrations on Thursday, April 17.

Instead, Brooklyn, 26, took to Instagram to share a series of photos from the Coachella festival alongside his wife Nicola Peltz, captioning the post: "Made amazing memories this year x [heart emoji]."

Just an hour earlier, Victoria posted images of her lavish birthday festivities, joined by sons Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13. She wrote: "Thank you for making my birthday so special.

"My family and my friends, I love you all so much xxxxx.”

Photos of the Beckham family enjoying sunny weather aboard a yacht suggest Victoria’s birthday was celebrated in Miami, Florida. One image shows the mother-of-four posing on deck with her birthday cake, while another features her smiling alongside husband David and their children Romeo and Harper.

But while Victoria received gushing messages of congratulations from David and their two younger sons, there was no message from Brooklyn, whose third wedding anniversary with wife Nicola Peltz went unacknowledged by his family last week.

It leaves insiders wondering whether he and Nicola will attend the huge celebrations planned for his father David’s 50th birthday on May 2, with preparations already underway with a private jet on standby and a booking at one of his favourite restaurants, The Daily Mail reports.

A source told the newspaper: “David adores his sons and he is so, so proud of how close they are. He loves having a happy family that loves spending time together.

“Family is everything to him. He is a working class boy who grew up with strong connections to his grandparents and parents, and he loves nothing more than to see his boys, and Harper, being so close. While the location will be perfect and stunning, what he wants most is for his family to be around him, happily getting along.

“Right now, though, things aren't great. All everyone around them hopes is that they can mend any issues in time for the big day – for David.”

The alleged ‘rift’ follows Brooklyn and Nicola’s absence from a recent family gathering held in anticipation of David’s upcoming birthday. Romeo and Cruz attended the event at Miami's exclusive Cipriani Downtown restaurant alongside their girlfriends, Kim Turnbull and Jackie Apostel, while Brooklyn and Nicola remained in Los Angeles.

Sources close to Brooklyn and Nicola insist their absence was expected, attributing it to Brooklyn’s work commitments as he aims to build his career as a chef.

Meanwhile, showbiz website TMZ reported that Brooklyn and Romeo have fallen out over Romeo's new relationship with Kim Turnbull, who previously dated Brooklyn's friend, Rocco Ritchie.

Despite the rumours, this event isn't the only family gathering Brooklyn has missed; the Mail documented 11 family occasions he was notably absent from.

Eagle-eyed fans will be closely watching David's 50th birthday celebrations at the beginning of May to see whether Brooklyn and Nicola will attend.
