Bechtle snaps up Tangible Benefit to expand UK market presence

Bechtle has made another stride in its UK expansion spans with the acquisition of Tangible Benefit, a value-added reseller based in London.

Founded in 1997, Tangible Benefit has a staff base of 66 employees and has established itself as a well-known entity in hardware procurement, hitting revenues of €70 million (£61.3 million) in the 2021/22 fiscal year.

The company’s core business revolves around selling and supporting a range of hardware, including related plug-and-play services and software licensing, security and network services, as well as lifecycle management.

Founder Timothy Trotman will remain with the firm for the transition phase and will closely oversee its integration before passing the torch to Bechtle managing director James Napp. All other senior employees will remain in their current positions, the company confirmed.

“I’m excited to work with the success-driven team at Tangible Benefit and capitalise together on the substantial cross-selling opportunities for Bechtle’s solutions and services offerings into Tangible Benefit’s customers,” Napp commented. “This is another important step towards becoming one of the top ten IT solutions providers in the UK.”

Tangible Benefit said its rationale for selling its profitable business is to secure a succession plan alongside attractive development potential for its employees.

“We’ve known Bechtle for many years as we navigate the same market and we’re extremely happy to entrust our company to such a safe pair of hands,” said Nick Barrett, sales director at Tangible Benefit.

“Our top priority was ensuring our staff’s future was secure and that our customers could continue to count on us to deliver added value, which they can, now with even greater capabilities and more expansive offerings thanks to Bechtle.”

The move comes just four months after Bechtle acquired Northampton-based IT services provider ACS Systems and marks the next phase of its international growth ambitions.

With this latest acquisition, the firm says it is adding a company that offers a very similar portfolio to its own and, by joining forces, the combination will create an even stronger link between major vendor partners and the UK’s B2B customer landscape.

The new location establishes a regional presence for Bechtle in the lucrative London market and an expanded corporate customer base, adding to its existing offices in Manchester, Northampton, and Chippenham.

“I’m deeply impressed by the extraordinary spirit and ambition shown by the highly qualified and motivated Tangible Benefit team,” said Konstantin Ebert, Bechtle’s executive vice president for France, Benelux, and the UK. “They will be a fantastic addition to the Bechtle family and I’m very much looking forward to facing the future together.”
