'Because' - Arsenal star makes Champions League final prediction Liverpool won't like

Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares believes Real Madrid will come out on top against Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday evening in Paris.

The Reds are looking to collect their seventh European cup - equalling the current haul of AC Milan - and are in pursuit of a third major trophy this season. While Madrid have already been crowned La Liga champions and are chasing down an historic 14th triumph in Europe's elite club competition.

And speaking on the Counter Attack Podcast, Portuguese left-back Taveres thinks it will be Carlo Ancelotti's Los Blancos that comes out on top on the evening.

He said: “Real Madrid. Because they are on fire this season. It’s 11 against 11, Liverpool are really, really good. They look forward all the time and don’t let the other team breathe but it will be a good fight."

The Reds are sweating on the fitness of midfielder Thiago, who was forced off against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the Premier League season last Sunday. Key defensive midfield man Fabinho has also been missing in recent matches but has been back training with the squad this week.

Centre-back Virgil van Dijk did not play against Wolves but is expected to start in Paris, as is Mohamed Salah, who was a only a substitute in the Reds' Premier League finale but still found the net late on.

Salah is looking for redemption against Real Madrid on Saturday after he was forced off injured against the Spaniards four years ago in the 2018 final in Kiev, a match that Zinedine Zidane's team went on to win 3-1.
