Beauty routine transformed by UFOs

The dual-mode sheet mask can be paired with the UFO device for a two-minute facial.

Foreo revolutionised the beauty routine by introducing the world's first smart mask gadget called UFO, which whimsically stands for Ur Future Obsession. The Swedish company specialises in high-performance skincare and oral care devices. It took four years to develop UFO, which is used with an activated sheet mask by downloading an app and following instructions to carry out a quick at-home facial.

Foreo takes pampering to the next level by devising the world's first dual-mode sheet masks, launched last Thursday and available at Sephora stores.

Under the Farm To Face collection, the five formulas can be used in two ways, as a regular sheet mask for a relaxing 20 minute treatment or with the UFO smart-mask device for a two-minute facial.

The limited edition addresses different skin concerns through iconic natural ingredients sourced from five countries.

For dull and dry skin, the Bulgarian Rose Mask is infused with hydrating rose water possessing antioxidant properties and rose petals' sugars and natural oils that trap the moisture in the skin. The other key ingredient, jojoba seed oil, mimics that of natural skin oils, thereby helping to restore balance.

For skin regularly exposed to environmental pollutants and other stressors, the purifying Green Tea Mask contains extracts of Japanese green tea rich in antioxidants and root of Ulmus davidiana with a moisturising effect.

Sourced from Indonesia, coconut oil and water power the nourishing mask for dry and dehydrated skin. The emollient oil softens the skin while the hydrating water contains nutrients such as electrolytes, amino acids and vitamins.

The skin-revitalising formula is soaked with manuka honey boasting a nutrient-dense profile from New Zealand, and allantoin found naturally in chamomile and comfrey plants. The Manuka Honey Mask is particularly recommended for dry skin with premature signs of ageing.

For those concerned about fine lines and wrinkles, the fifth smoothing mask features acai berry extract from Brazil and shea butter. A superfood, the fruit of Euterpe oleracea is a potent source of antioxidants that protect the skin from free-radicals linked to skin ageing.

The acai berry, green tea and coconut oil masks are vegan while all of them are clean formulas without controversial ingredients such as parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates and mineral oil.

The tencel sheet masks fit snugly on the skin when used for the 20-minute pampering. If you don't have the time, the mask can be paired with Foreo's beauty-tech device for a two-minute treatment.

UFO functions through a fusion of technologies including LED light therapy, thermotherapy, cryotherapy and T-Sonic pulsations, activated via a smartphone.

The LED light therapy involves red for anti-ageing, green for brightening and blue for anti-acne effects, varying in temperature and pulsation intensity according to a preprogrammed treatment.

The device evenly distributes the mask essence across every area of the face, while the heat opens pores and the T-Sonic massage increases microcirculation and delivers the ingredients deeper into the skin to facilitate the hyper infusion process. The cryotherapy then helps shrink pore and firm the skin to round off the supercharged facial.
