Beauty fans stunned by how NYX is pronounced as they realise they've been saying it wrong

Beauty brand NYX has had enough of everyone pronouncing its name wrong and has decided it’s time to end the age old debate. The American cosmetics company has been around for nearly 25 years, yet still, many don’t know how to pronounce the brand's name.

NYX Professional Makeup is a subsidiary of L'Oréal and was founded in Los Angeles by Toni Ko in 1999.

Although it was named after Nyx, the Greek goddess of the night, make-up users still debate what they think is the correct pronunciation.

However, Nyx has said enough is enough and took to social media to settle the debate once and for all.

The beauty brand tweeted: “It’s pronounced “NIX” not N-Y-X or NIKES.”

Those who have been saying it the right way all these years finally felt a sense of vindication.

Ciara replied to the tweet saying: “thank you for clearing up the confusion, I’ll reference this tweet if anyone tries to argue about it.”

Another user said: “I’m sending this to my mom lol. I’ve been telling her for years. She says N-Y-X.”

Ant said it drove them “insane when people say N-Y-X!”

Another Twitter user said: “People are still that horribly unaware? To be honest, I only know the correct pronunciation because of RuPaul's drag race. I was guilty of calling it N-Y-X,” while Tara boasted: “so I've been pronouncing right since I was like 10.”

If you grew up watching make-up tutorials on YouTube however, you may have been pronouncing it the right way already.

“It’s been 10 years people you should know from the OG beauty YouTubers,” Shelbie tweeted.

Make-up users who had not been saying the brand's name right this whole time were not afraid to put their hands up.

Tiffany admitted to pronouncing it wrong all this time: “Thank u I’ve been saying ‘en why ex or nix or whatever it’s called.’”

Donna tweeted: “I say N-Y-X or….New York X” with the company saying the latter was a new variation for them.
