Tributes have been paid to a young midwife who died in a road smash as she drove home from work.
Shauna McGrath, who was just 22, was killed as she drove home after finishing a nightshift as a midwife at University Hospital Waterford (UHW).
She died when the car she was driving collided with a lorry on the N25 road at Kilmacthomas, around 30kms west of Waterford City at around 8.30am on Tuesday.

Ms McGrath was about 15 minutes from her home in nearby Dungarvan when the accident happened. She died at the scene.
Her remains were later taken to UHW, where she worked, for a post-mortem. The driver of the lorry was also taken to the hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Abbeyside Camogie team posted on Facebook on Wednesday: "It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we learned yesterday of the passing of one of our own Abbeyside camogie players, a beautiful, talented young girl taken from us too soon.
"Shauna... teammate, friend, girlfriend, daughter, sister, may you rest in peace in the arms of the angels. Our deepest condolences to Shauna's mum and our chairperson Eleanor, dad Hiker and sister Cadhla, her boyfriend Liam, her extended family, friends and teammates.
"Sending you the strength and support of the Abbeyside camogie community. Thinking of you all at this sad time. May Shauna rest in peace."
Gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact them. A spokesman said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the N25 at Faha near Kilmacthomas, Co Waterford on Tuesday, July 12 2022.
“The two-vehicle collision, involving a car and a lorry occurred at approximately 8.30am. The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 20s, was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Her body has since been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place in due course.
“The driver of the lorry was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.

Locals in Dungarvan said Ms McGrath, who would have celebrated her 23rd birthday in December, was a well-loved member of the community and was especially active in Abbeyside Ladies GAA Club.
“Everyone is devastated. She was lovely,” said one local.
