Beautiful narrowboat set on a scenic Manchester canal that you can live in and set sail whenever you like

Most people tend to put their money in bricks and mortar, but for those who dream of an on-the-move lifestyle, buying a boat can make this a reality. A rare opportunity has now come up to become the owner of a beautiful narrowboat in Manchester.

On the market for £95,000, the boat is currently moored on the scenic and peaceful Bridgewater Canal in Castlefield which connects Runcorn, Manchester and Leigh. With its prime central location, the 2006 Aqualine Madison is docked in walking distance to some of the city's best bars, restaurants and attractions, whilst giving you the freedom to set sail across the north west waters whenever you like.

Stretching 60 foot, the houseboat has everything you would need to live a life on board with a modern gallery, space for up to six people to sleep and a deck area at the rear where you can enjoy the Castlefield scenery or everchanging views on your voyage.

The narrowboat relocated to Manchester from Derbyshire in 2018 and has been used since by a professional from the south of England who wanted a base whilst working in the city centre.

Kitchen (Purplebricks)

The current owner regularly takes the boat out either for fuel and water, or for extended weekends away from the city along the Bridgewater Canal, northwest to Leeds and Liverpool, or inland via the Peak Forest Canal.

Inside, the boat has an oak kitchen with granite worktops and glass fronted wall units. The kitchen has all amenities to allow you to cook up a storm whilst on the move with a gas oven, separate grill, four burner gas stove and a fridge freezer. There is also a kitchen sink, washing machine and ample storage space.

Comfortable living area (Purplebricks)

In the lounge and living area, there is a four seater dining table with useful yet discreet under seat storage, a floor to ceiling height dresser, flat screen smart TV with a DVD player and surround sound as well as stove fireplace that makes the area particularly cosy.

There is also a full-size futon sofa which folds out into a double bed, providing space for two to sleep. The saloon area also converts into an additional sleeping area, comfortably providing room for two more adults. There is one bedroom which has a double bed, as well as a bathroom with a shower.

Bridgewater Canal has heaps of history as when it opened back in 1761, it was initially used to transport coal from mines in Worsley to Manchester. It is described as the 'first great achievement' of the canal age.

Its success helped to inspire a period where many canals were built in Britain. It is one of the few canals in the country not to have been nationalised and remains privately owned. Nowadays the Bridgewater Canal is mainly used by leisure boaters.
