A beautiful Merseyside beach has been criticised for being sandy and cold.
There's no shortage of areas to drink in stunning views of Merseyside's enviable coastline, with beaches in Crosby, Formby, Ainsdale, and New Brighton, to name but a few. There's something to suit all needs, with some beaches akin to quaint seaside towns reminiscent of days gone by, and others offering huge expanses of golden sand ideal for long, leisurely strolls.
But one beach has received a negative review on TripAdvisor simply for all the features you'd expect to find at a beach. The review, written in February 2023, slammed Wallasey beach for its natural attractions like the sea and the sand.

It was also criticised because the reviewer visited on a rainy day. TripAdvisor user Chris titled his assessment of the coastal hotspot "poor" and penned: "I don't like the sea as it's cold and the sand gets in my toes it was a cold day and then started to rain", giving the beach just one star.
This is in stark contrast to the many five star reviews the beach has received on the site. One fan said: "Had a lovely day on the prom & beach with the grandchildren, cycling, picnic & building sandcastles, lots of fun bat & ball. We would recommend to friends and family".
Another said: "A great place to walk, everyone is friendly and happy, plenty of resting places so suitable for all abilities! I love to take my dog, she can run free and lots of other friendly dogs to play with".
Another dubbed it a "hidden gem" and said: "I live in Wallasey and go here regularly to walk the dogs. A beautiful expanse of clean beach - keep it that way please. Popular all year round with a prom the goes for miles for walking or biking."
One TripAdvisor user praised its "dramatic coastline" and said: "Walking along the long and popular promenade my twin brother Stephen and I took in the stunning views of the beach and sea. On a cold, blustery day the sea looked very dramatic, made for some great photographic opportunities and despite the really bad weather it was still busy, lots of families and dog walkers, not surprisingly there was no one on the beach but it was still great walking along the [promenade]."
Though one reviewer, who still awarded it five stars, did highlight the value of visiting at a specific time. They said: "Long stretch of almost deserted beach when the tide was out. A different story at high tide when everyone had to cram into one small corner." On Trip.com, a reviewer branded the beach "outstanding" and added: "Wallasey beach it's really beautiful lighting. It's a very moving view at sunset. It's a great experience".
