Beautiful apartment inside old hospital chapel up for sale

Anyone looking for a unique, sleek, award-winning home in an historic Bristol landmark need look no further than The Chapel, Guinea Street, which has gone on the market for just under £1 million.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is one of a kind, situated on the top floor of a hospital chapel constructed in 1915. Its “original period detailing” has been “tastefully paired with contemporary high specification fixtures and fittings”, say estate agents Rupert Oliver.

These include “an array of hand crafted bespoke fitted storage options throughout” and “the installation of a home office (complete with integrated wine fridge) which has cleverly utilised the natural contours of the apartment”.

The curved wall and domed ceiling which formerly housed the altar now make for a spacious, well lit kitchen-dining space with leaded glass windows, some of which retain the original stained glass bearing the name “Bristol General Hospital”.

The kitchen itself is fully outfitted with Neff appliances including a double oven, grill, ceramic hob and integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher, plus a kitchen island/breakfast bar for quick bites and less formal meals.

The bedrooms also feature original windows with brass latches, with space enough for a king size bed and a large desk even in the smaller sleeping area. The master bedroom is on a mezzanine and, combined with living space including two reading snugs, make it a “real show-stopper”.

The bathrooms include both bath and shower plus heated towel rails, while a dedicated utility room includes a kitchenette, sink and under-counter white goods. And under the spiral staircase hides an ingenious little home office, incorporating a desk and a wine fridge.

Light-coloured oak flooring and off-white walls throughout make the open-plan accommodation feel extra spacious, while an underfloor heating system will ensure that it remains cosy even during colder weather.

Under one mile from Bristol Temple Meads, it is ideally situated for those seeking a vibrant inner-city lifestyle. It even comes with an underground parking space big enough for “larger vehicles or a regular vehicle and a motorbike”.

The property comes with a concierge service and two communal private courtyards, to which the owners of The Chapel will have access. Nearby are the numerous bars, restaurants and cafes of Wapping Wharf.

This incredibly stylish city centre apartment can be yours for £895,000 – or £1,833 a month, assuming you have half a million to put down as a deposit. Just don’t forget to budget for ground rent of £250 per year, plus an annual service charge of £2,137, too.
