Beatles Sir Paul McCartney charges highest gig ticket prices in the world

Sir Paul McCartney reportedly charges the most across the world for his gig ticket prices.

New figures have shown that The Beatles and Wings legend commanded an average of £206.68 per head for his two-and-a-half hour shows in 2022. Ed Sheeran, who charges £68.78, would have to sell three times as many tickets to match the 80-year-old’s concert revenue - Sheeran earned £209.3m from 63 shows while Sir Paul raked in over £87.57m from just 16 shows.

The Scouse superstar’s average ticket fees also eclipse those of far younger A-listers like BTS (£129.7), The Weeknd (£121.66), Lady Gaga (£119.05), Red Hot Chili Peppers (£108.26) and Billie Eilish (£90.35). Coming in at second most expensive though was UK rivals Genesis and The Rolling Stones, fronted by Sir Mick Jagger, 79.

Sir Elton John, 75, takes fourth place at £134.03 a ticket and snapping at their heels is youngster Harry Styles. The former One Direction singer, 28, is fifth on an average £124.44.

The revelations were made by US music analysts Pollstar after examining the ticket sales for the globe’s 30 biggest tours in the last 12 months, reported The Mirror. Pollstar’s executive editor Andy Gensler said: “Macca, The Stones and Elton are straight-up legends who appeal to a multi-generational market.

"For many, seeing these artists, who may never tour again, is a peak life experience.” Brodie Cooper of US public relations firm PRrppd added: “There are many fans who would argue that 200 bucks for a ticket is a steal for what they experience watching, listening and even singing along in front of Sir Paul.”
